Smorgasbord of Music

Prior to the start of summer here in Charlottesville, there is a surge of announcements concerning the bevy of artists and bands coming to our multiple entertainment venues.

Let it be known that the my family loves music of all types: a daughter who self-describes as a"band geek", the Papa (dancing, tie-dyed) Bear "Dead Head", the "Hip/Hop Christian" JMU psych major, and finally, me. I am the young gal who purchased "Rock of the Westies" by Elton John before anything by Donny Osmond; the tweener that still loves "Rumours" from Fleetwood Mac; the college student shaped by what came to be known as "Alternative", but at the time included Suzanne Vega and Depeche Mode,

Alluding to the theme of this musing, being "shaped" by the music of my college days, all of us live life, and can define that life's years, if not specific moments, by a song played on a radio, or in a marching band, or danced to with a partner. My challenge to you is to share a conversation about the "music of your life" with the important people of your life. Music speaks not only to us, but tells a story about who we are, as well. And in this community of Greater Charlottesville, the Blue Ridge, and the land of Thomas Jefferson, that story spans every genre.

So, I share with you the links for The Jefferson, The Southern, nTelos Pavilion, Lochn Festival, and the arts of UVA. Please share with those who matter to you, and share the love!
